The Flavor Factor

BASE + THICKENING AGENT + FLAVOR PROFILE = SAUCE

Our saucy conversations would not be complete without mention of the flavor factor. Once we determine the base and how to thicken the sauce, we then need to decide on the flavor profile to bring interest and intrigue to taste.

We’ve talked about it before: cooking by flavor. Of course we always want to cook with flavor but have you tried cooking by flavor? As a wife and mama to four kids, mealtime matters. It is that brief moment in the day where we get to sit down together and connect on some level. The busyness of life led me to a place where I wanted to be able to walk into my kitchen and make something fabulous with the items already there.

The battle is real. That inner tension of wanting mealtime greatness yet struggling with the follow-through of recipes. Sometimes we are missing a key ingredient. Other instances we realize that cooking times exceed the amount of time available. Much of this tension went away when I discovered flavor profiles and began cooking by flavor.

We covered flavor profiles in the Spice of Life cooking series. No time like the present to brush up on the genius behind this cooking technique. Choose any of the listed flavor profiles to identify ingredients needed to flavor your {awesome} sauce.
