Cherry Salad Whip


Food for thought:

At what point does a salad cross over to the dessert realm?

Possibly when cherry pie filling is involved? I’ll let the experts {wink-wink} decide.


the recipe {verbatim}

Combine and mix thoroughly the following:

  • 1 can cherry pie filling
  • 1 large can crushed pineapple (drained)
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk

Fold the following into the above:

  • 13 ounce carton of Cool Whip
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Cover and chill overnight or several hours before serving.


creative license
  • Used one, 8 ounce carton of Cool Whip rather than 13 ounces.
  • Omitted the chopped pecans {wretched nut allergies}.
  • Chose to freeze salad whip rather than chill so that it resembled more of a slice of ice cream. In my {noble} world, this is a dessert.
